چکیده

Burn treatment is an area of major importance in medicine, however, there is not currently an analytic method to determine the depth and magnitude of burns. Complications, such as a relative lack of knowledge of the specific thermal properties of skin and the relation between heat transfer and biological processes, have prevented a comprehensive model to explain the field of bioheat transfer. Research was conducted to estimate the relevant thermal and material properties in the field of bioheat transfer. Subsequently, an experiment was proposed, and a mathematical model was developed for the experiment, to allow for detection of burns through the use of heat transfer analysis. Burned skin and healthy skin differ in that there is no blood flow and thus no directionality to the heat transfer in burned skin. Thus, the experiment was designed to determine if there was a directionality was present in the heat transfer in the skin. Using the estimated skin properties, calculations were done to determine the viability of the proposed experiment. The experiment was refined to account for the findings and modified to more accurately detect burns in human skin.

Evaluation of new method to induce neuritis and comparison its symptoms with current chronic constriction injury method in male rat

Introduction: There are various animal models to investigate neuropathic pain which the most usual one is chronic constriction injury method. The aim of the present study was the evaluation of neuropathic pain following chronic spiral suturing around the sciatic nerve without ligation as a new model. Materials and Methods: Thirty Wistar male rats, weighting 180-220 gram randomly were divided in...

Investigating Point to Point Emissivity Variation of Wounded Tissue

Infrared cameras are becoming increasingly popular in clinics. Current practices, however, often overlook the importance of emissivity when taking thermal measurements. The consensus is that human skin has an emissivity of 0.98, but this varies between individuals, areas examined and whether the skin is damaged. This research investigated the emissivity variation of chronic wounds and its effec...

Tenskinmetric Evaluation of Surface Energy Changes in Adult Skin: Evidence from 834 Normal Subjects Monitored in Controlled Conditions

To evaluate the influence of the skin aging critical level on the adult skin epidermal functional state, an improved analytical method based on the skin surface energetic measurement (TVS modeling) was developed. Tenskinmetric measurements were carried out non-invasively in controlled conditions by contact angle method using only a water-drop as reference standard liquid. Adult skin was monitor...
